Cloud Sucess

In other for Sky-High AirlineImageCloud  to obtain a more efficient business economical and technical advantage using the cloud based booking system, cloud computing must be implemented successfully. Deployment takes the place of implementation because making use of the service of a cloud vendor will not differentiate your SHA organization from its competitors or vice versa. SHA successful deployment steps entails obtaining unique or valuable organizational benefits that will smartly reflect a source of differentiation and competitive advantage.

The Myths of cloud computing

This whitepaper explains vividly on the myths of cloud computing which includes public cloud being the most cost effective, important applications do not belong to the cloud and security requirements are al equal to list a few.

The Three Ways to Cloud Compute

This cloud computing video explains SaaS, PaaS and Iaas — otherwise known as “software as a service”, “platform as a service” and “infrastructure as a service”. It is produced and presented by Christopher Barnatt, author of ExplainingComputers.com and “A Brief Guide to Cloud Computing” (Robinson, 2010), and Associate Professor of Computing & Future Studies in Nottingham University Business School. Recommendation Needed For Cloud Computing Transmission Of Sky-High Airline

Recommendations

Although, a number of previously highlighted challenges are encountered while transiting to cloud technology strategy, Amelia Earhart would present some convincing solutions to cloud technology as a counter-defensive strategy in order to face these challenges.

  • Sky-High Airlines should invest on improved software and hardware, and inquire about the service provider cloud based security policies upfront to prevent hacking thereby enforcing data security. It should also “ensure effective data backup plans to salvage data if a disaster strikes” (Smith, 2013).
  • As earlier noted, transition from on-premise set up to virtual set up affects switching freely, thus, Sky-High Airlines planning ahead for an effective cloud configuration will ensure portable data.
  • For this organization to successfully deploy a rewarding cloud service, the most appropriate cloud set-up should be decided. Since Sky-High Airlines is new to this technology, it should initially hosting its services in the hybrid cloud which is a balanced approach with respect to security and cost and thereafter upgrade to the private cloud environment to feel safe with its increasing data size.
  • There is need for a professional assistance such as a cloud computing consulting service when transiting. This ensures that an efficient cloud set-up is implemented since they are aware of the terms and conditions regarding cloud implementation and data security across borders. (Smith, 2013)
  • Training and support Cloud computing is changing the delivery mechanism of applications and infrastructures to the ultimate consumers. Even if the channel is in part disintermediated from the sales and operations process, it may still play a vital role as a consultant as many users will require training and customization support to ensure they get their expected return on investment (White, 2010).
  • Cloud computing is dependent on the service provider; however, a reliable vendor such as IBM may be chosen to meet the security policies and standards of the organization and for fast and uninterrupted services. “Cloud-vendor relationships characterized by trust are critical for cloud deployment and the promise of gaining advantage in a competitive market” (Garrison, Kim, & WakeField, 2012)
  • For a cost effective cloud service, SLA and pricing models associated with the chosen cloud infrastructure(s) should be clearly understood. The chosen cloud vendor should be relative to Sky-High Airlines partner companies, because communication between servers in different datacenters within the same cloud is cheaper than communication between servers’ on-premise datacenters or in different clouds (RightScale, 2012).
  • Sky-High Airlines would employ simplified architectures at start, since it is easier to design and manage and then progress to a more complex solution for failover purposes if the simpler version will not suffice (RightScale, 2012)

Cloud Computing for SMEs – Global Opportunities & Challenges

Subrata Dhara SMEs do not quickly take advantage of IT/IS due to the believe of high cost and inability to effectively utilise the technology advancement. Consequently, they tend to be faced with issues in the management of their supply chains, financials, inventories, customer relationships, and human resources. The advancement to Cloud detolorates the cost burden of using IT for SMEs, especially because Cloud services provided access to on a usage based pricing model. However scalability, flexibility, and On-Demand service are other benefits associated with cloud. Hence it is ascertained that the adoption of the Cloud, amongst the SMEs could be the highest in comparison to the rest of the business community.

The Impact of Cloud Computing on SME’s – Why You Need to Get Your Head Into The Cloud

Robert Lavery  at the plus computer solutions’ conference (www.plus.ca) explains what the cloud is, what it means to an organization and several ways in which organizations take advantage of the cloud (that is a better understanding of what cloud computing can do to your business in other to be very effective and efficient). Weather your on Google or your on Gmail you are all in the cloud. Also if you have used or heard about Amazon.co, market system product, baking online, downloading music from  Itunes, you are equally using the cloud.  Moreover, the benefits of cloud model, opportunities and risk, where the cloud can take you to and considerations for moving to the cloud was vividly highlighted.

Salesforce Cloud a computing news

The London Borough of Hounslow is deploying a Salesforce.com staff and citizen cloud collaboration platform to support web and mobile services. All residents will be able to access the council’s services through the cloud and will be supported by the council’s 2,500 staff. The council aims to achieve £600,000 in cost savings in the first year of deployment. The Salesforce.com platform has been purchased through the government’s G-Cloud CloudStore.

The council said it would be streamlining internal processes by consolidating and integrating data from the current 300 applications it uses onto a single platform that “will give employees a single data source to inform multiple services”. The council also said it would be “proactively monitoring resident conversations” on social channels, and “integrating insight with that single view”. Staff will be able to access the council cloud and its applications with desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. The council said the platform would also allow a closer strategic interaction with partners and local businesses.
