Salesforce Cloud a computing news

The London Borough of Hounslow is deploying a Salesforce.com staff and citizen cloud collaboration platform to support web and mobile services. All residents will be able to access the council’s services through the cloud and will be supported by the council’s 2,500 staff. The council aims to achieve £600,000 in cost savings in the first year of deployment. The Salesforce.com platform has been purchased through the government’s G-Cloud CloudStore.

The council said it would be streamlining internal processes by consolidating and integrating data from the current 300 applications it uses onto a single platform that “will give employees a single data source to inform multiple services”. The council also said it would be “proactively monitoring resident conversations” on social channels, and “integrating insight with that single view”. Staff will be able to access the council cloud and its applications with desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. The council said the platform would also allow a closer strategic interaction with partners and local businesses.
